We moored at the top of the River Lark on Monday night. When we woke Tuesday (yesterday) morning -wow!. What a sunrise.
Everywhere was doused in red paint
We headed off in glorious sunshine with Yarwood not far behind
The idea was to stop off at Prickwillow for a water top up before heading on up to Judes Ferry which is the head of the navigation for us. Mr & Mrs Yarwood's car was there and the little drove roads on the Fens were a nightmare of sheet ice so they decided to stay the night (rather than 'hop' the car) as they were off to visit family this morning.
Reluctant to waste the weather (have you seen the forecast from Friday?) we cruised on up past 'The Pepperpot' - a converted 8 sided crooked building that used to be a windmill pump

and on towards Isleham Lock where, for the first time, we were able to pull onto the lock landing whilst we set the lock. On previous visits it had been staked out by boat DIYers/moorers. I think it had been a while since any boats had passed through this way and we received a fair bit of attention
They do make me smile. All they needed was a garden fence to natter over
This, previously sunken, boat has been (mostly) pulled out of the water, with signs of restoration work taking place
We arrived at Judes Ferry a very happy pair of somewhat frozen bunnies; just in time to defrost in the pub's leather sofas, in front of the fire with a pint in our hands.
A really lovely cruise, hopefully two more days of gorgeous sunshine before the grotty weather hits us
