Lincoln

It's a hell of a climb up the cobbled streets of Lincoln to the 'sexy' bits  around the Cathedral and Castle, but well worth it. Luckily, given that we had the dogs with us, we managed to avoid Indigo Dreams encounter with the Kami Kazi cat.

Unfortunately a lot of it was being dug up whilst we were there

The Lion and Snake didn't seem to want to serve us, so we walked out. The 16th Century Green Dragon gave us a discount for being members of Camra.
We didn't go inside the castle or the cathedral as the cost was too steep for us poor old pensioners.

No Graham, you can't fire it at people doing more than 4mph!

I would have liked to stay overnight so that I could have an independent firtle around the museums and art galleries but we couldn't find moorings that made sense for us - we tried to contact Brayford Trust for a mooring in Brayford Pool, but we couldn't make contact so we pulled out 2 miles and moored by the Pyewipe Inn which allowed the animals free reign and a respite for us from gongoozlers.

  1. But now that you have the taste for tideway speed, surely you mean fire that cannon at people doing less than 4mph?

  2. Looks as though you had better weather than us today. It is a lovely city, but not enough visitor moorings, and what there is, is only for 24 hours.

  3. There are a few places to moor in Lincoln centre. First up is the visitor moorings outside the uni. Not a lot of moorings there but rafting up is allowed and encouraged. Then there is right in the centre outside the waterside shopping complex under the willow trees. Failing that people often moor up before Stamp End Lock on the wall there. We prefer to drp our anchor in the pool by the island (out of the channel). It gives us a quiet evening plus if we fancy a drink we can dinghy across to one of the bars on Brayford waterfront.

  5. Ian and Karen, we managed our walk in the dry, but G was soaked on the helm in the afternoon.

  6. Naughty-Cal, you have it all taped but we, alas, have no dinghy. Wish we could have had you as tour guides. Breasting up is very difficult with the animals - many people object to Daisy's paw prints! We ended up next to a road and lifting the dogs over the railings.
We will be back another year not finished here by a long way - it's gorgeous

  7. Give us some prior warning next time and we will have a drink or two. The cat stopped bringing you presents yet? That was one of the funniest things we have seen on the ditch for a while

  8. Naughty-Cal, We'll try for prior warning but boating doesn't always work that way does it? Love to meet up and I'm afraid the presents are still arriving - I fear one or two may be eating through our wiring as I speak!
