Shebdon Embankment

We set off just after 9.00am in lovely sunshine but a very hard frost. The only goals of the day being Caxton needing to check out Norbury Yard as they are booked in for blacking at the end of April and my desire to introduce Lesley to the history and vagaries of The Anchor at Bridge 42.
MR passes through the stoplock/floodgate
The dogs sit by patiently whilst we water at Norbury
Caxton moored across at the wharf
Arrived at Olive's (The Anchor) by bridge 42 at lunchtime - she has a 14 week old yellow lab but isn't open at all at lunchtimes and is only opening Friday and Saturday evenings at the moment.
So we moved on to the aqueduct at Shebdon to the Wharf Inn. That isn't open at lunchtime either, nor is it open Sunday or Monday evenings (it's Monday today). Dry old County this one! I know many pubs on the canal extend their opening times with the increased trade from Easter; but Easter is nearly in May this year.
Oh well. Back to the boat for much needed planning -  of which the dogs and I delivered to Caxton with  Daisy in hot pursuit. They were moored a good quarter of a mile away - that cat!
