Bathpool Park (the Harecastle tunnel alternative)

Having experienced the Harecastle tunnel once before, I decided to go with the overground option through Bathpool Park into Kidsgrove.

Look what we found! Swimming for dogs and exercise machines all around the park perimeter track. I started off cynical but this was good fun.

We then had time to replace any lost calories with a cooked breakfast outside a cafe in Kidsgrove & IT WASN'T RAINING; all nicely timed to meet the boats just as they came out of the tunnel & walk onto the Macclesfield Canal.

We made friends with some lovely guys on the Coventry Canal 18 months ago-Linda & David. We were both new boat owners; they had just bought a lovely boat called Critical Point. Now Linda & David just happen to live in a house with a garden that backs on to the Macclesfield! We received a right royal welcome & Daisy had to make a tough decision about where to sleep - in the end she made herself at home in their conservatory. We had a lot of catching up to do so did our best by mooring at the end of their garden. Thank you guys for your hospitality it was so good to meet up again - see you soon on the Weaver.
